Technology
Technology in my opinion is moving us in a positive diction because it is so big in this era that we are in. Living in the silicon valley where the .com era started the web has come along a long way since then. FaceBook is an example of something that started off really small and blew up to be one of the most popular websites in web world. Facebook is a site where you connect with family and friends. You can share a lot of things on your profiles and others as well. I feel like the point in to FaceBook is to keep in contact you can do a lot of this with this website. You can post picture, Status comments, and information about your self for all your family and friends to see. You can also make your profile private so only the people you want see. At the end of the day technology is basically our every day us are phones, computers and tv.

secondary and post-secondary schooling
There is a major problem with our educational system. The idea is that we have a public education system and everyone has a right to an education. But the reality is that is not the case. Budget cutbacks have caused some serious issues in the inner cities. My example is the East Side San Jose School District compared to the Cupertino School District. East Side has suffered major cutbacks that has increased class sizes due to teachers being pink slipped. The Cupertino teachers also received pink slips but there is a vast difference. The Cupertino community because it is affluent raised within 2 weeks close to I believe it was 2 million dollars. They were able to save there teachers jobs and support there extracurricular programs. The community of Alum Rock was not able to do the same due to it is a low income area. This is a real problem among our schools that social economic issues determine the quality of education you receive.
Letter to Jerry Brown.
The cost of college tuition at the state and uc level I think has made it impossible for most working class families to send their children to a 4 yr college. Average the cost can range between $18,000 and $30,000 depending on the school. This is most individuals yearly income. The community colleges have become impacted causing the price per unit to rise and classes have also become impacted. I recently signed up for Biology at SJ City college, by the time my registration date the class was already full and I had to wait list. It is impossible with rising costs to even live near the colleges. Rents along with the cost of gas and food it is forcing most college students to still live at home. Programs like EOPS have been cut, which help with costs such as books. This last quarter my books equaled $500. the sell back I got back $125. I think teachers need to be more mindful about switching additions. To increase public transportation and ride sharing I have several ideas. I think that students should be given a discounted public transportation pass. Incentives for ride sharing or car pooling.
